In the year 2017 Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee released Despacito and it topped the charts for most streamed songs at the time within the space of six months. It was a combination of reggaeton and pop that not only drew attention to Latin Music, but also reggaeton. The Billboard Top 100 featured two songs that were Spanish predominantly, as well as four in 2016. In the midst of Despacito's fame in the year 2017 there were 19 predominantly Spanish tracks that made the top 100. In 2020, there were 41. Justin Bieber's bilingual version of Despacito was released in 2017. After that, some of the most famous artists began collaborating with reggaeton artists. Drake collaborated with Bad Bunny for MIA (2018), and Madonna worked with Maluma in the creation of Medellin. The gradual mainstreaming of reggaeton became an issue for certain performers in 2020. Rauw alejandro and a young generation, however, determined to maintain the style. The group incorporated elements from different genres and electronic music.
